Garage owner Andy Kent shows how colour co-ordination can raise money for charity and drum up excellent business publicity
BARBIE impersonator Sarah Burge brightened up the workshop at Andy’s Kars in Bar Hill, Cambridgeshire, this month.
The garage has been holding a series of fund-raising events for Breast Cancer Awareness month and even changed its name to attract publicity and donations.
Mechanics at Andy’s Bras (as it is being called throughout October) are wearing pink overalls a collecting donations for charities Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Care.
Owner Andy Kent has staged a number of events, including ‘Pink My Ride’ an alternative twist on the popular car-customization TV show Pimp My Ride.
Mechanic and office assistant Scott Mackie said the fundraising month had been great for business. “Things have been going really well,” he said.
“We’ve had publicity in the local newspaper and TV station. Even someone from The Times newspaper came down to take some pictures.
“It’s been fun in the workshop too, with everyone wearing pink overalls and shirts.” The month of fundraising will come to an end on November 3rd – the garage’s fifth birthday – with a lingerie catwalk show and charity auction.
A team of local women will model underwear from well-known stores such as La Senza, Debenhams and Ann Summers at the Next Generation Health and Fitness Club on Coldham’s Lane, Cambridge.
