Valeo’s technical hotline team receives a lot of calls asking which way round the clutch plate needs to be mounted during fitting.Clutch kits are produced in several different countries so different languages are printed on them. Here, Valeo shares the German and Italian phrases that reveal how to get things the right way round:
Cambio Lato/Lato Cambio – gearbox sideOn clutch kits or vehicles built in Italy, Cambio Lato or Lato Cambio will be written on the friction plate. It’s this side that needs to be fitted facing towards the gearbox.
Getreibeseite – gearbox sideOn clutches or cars built in Germany, Getriebeseite will be found written on the friction plate. Once again, it’s this side of the clutch that needs to be fitted facing towards the gearbox.
Motorseite – engine sideOn many clutch kits or cars produced in Germany, the word Motorseite will be found stamped on the friction plate. This time, the Motorseite side that needs to be fitted facing towards the engine (flywheel).
