Departure of MOT boss Alan Wilson paves way for new leadership

VOSA has shaken-up its MOT scheme by reorganising the men in charge of testing across the UK.

Former head of the MOT team Alan Wilson (pictured) has moved to a new job within VOSA, leaving Neil Cummings as head of roadworthiness and testing policy, including responsibility for the MOT scheme.

The move leaves John Stephenson in charge of MOT standards and Ian Bartlett with responsibility for MOT compliance.

There is, as yet, no indication of how the personnel changes may affect MOT policy over the coming months and years.

Elsewhere in the industry, Nigel Wonnacott has announced his plan to step down as head of communications at the SMMT on June 4th.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at SMMT immensely, particularly my three years as head of communications,” said Nigel.

“However, the time has come to move on. I want to explore new creative writing opportunities and spend more time with my young family.”

Also on the personnel front, treatments company Forté, which is also behind the Good Garage Scheme, has appointed Duncan Partington as sales director.

Forté has also appointed two new regional sales managers. Alan Jones has been with the company for nine years and will take responsibility for the south east.

Meanwhile, newcomer John Streatfield joins Forté from RAC Windscreens as regional manager for East Anglia.
