ACtronics offers ABS sensor reman service
ELECTRONICS company ACtronics has launched an ABS sensor remanufacturing service.
The Colchester-based firm says it is the only company of its kind offering repairs on piezo sensors in ESP/ABS hydraulic pressure sensor units.
“This is mainly because of the high technology used in these sensors and the expensive machines needed for it,” says senior development engineer Christian Planting.
ACtronics remanufactures climate control panel units, ECUs, throttle bodies, instrument clusters, ignition distributors and more. It has now invested in an ultra-small-wire bonding machine (pictured) to help repair faulty ABS sensor units.
Christian said the advantages of traditional mechanical remanufacturing also held true for electronic rebuilding: “The big advantage for garages is that the price of the repair gives a significant saving over the cost of a new ABS module, especially for the MK60 units.
"It's only a tiny part that actually breaks but the OE factory wants people to buy a complete new ECU with hydraulics and pump,” he said.
“By having a unit rebuilt, the customer saves a lot of money,” continued Christian. “We always aim to rebuild our products in such a way that the quality after rebuilding is equal or better than the quality of original components. That's why we can give a two-year warranty.”
