Comline boss plans charity cycle to Automechanika exhibition

PARTS company boss Malcolm Rosher is cycling to the Automechanika exhibition in Germany to raise money for industry charity BEN.

The sales and marketing manager at Comline will be joined by colleague Jonathan Ward on the 800km trip.

The pair will ride from Comline headquarters in Luton to Automechanika in Frankfurt.

Comline supplies parts for European, Japanese and Korean vehicles. It is the company behind the Allied Nippon brand of braking products.

You can make a donation to BEN at: www.virginmoneygiving.com by searching for Malcolm Rosher.

Having received special permission from the show’s organisers, Malcolm and Jonathan will cycle through the South gate of the exhibition hall to arrive at the Comline stand (Hall 5.1, stand E64) and the Allied Nippon stand (Hall 6.2, stand C59) respectively at 11am on 15th September.

BEN offers financial and emotional support to anyone in the automotive trade that has fallen on hard times.

“I’ve always understood the important role BEN plays within the industry, but I’ve become more involved in the work they do since my appointment to the aftermarket committee of the SMMT,” said Malcolm. “Jonathan and I are big supporters of BEN’s work, which has been more important than ever in recent years – and we wanted to do our bit to help.”

“I’ve always wanted to do a long distance bike ride but have never found anyone mad enough to join me. The idea of riding from Luton to Frankfurt came to me out of the blue and as we are both keen cyclists, we set ourselves this challenge. Saves on the airfare as well! Who knows, it could become a regular event – Automechanika one year, Equip Auto in Paris the next. It could grow – hundreds of aftermarket people taking part in future!

“We have both been in training for some time, although I have to admit, the fear is starting to set in now. We need everyone who knows us in the industry to come forward and show his or her support – after all, we may never walk again following this expedition!”
