Autologic offers BMW audio kit installation opportunity

AUTOLOGIC has joined forces with Dension to open up audio installation work to users of its BMW software package

Autologic is hoping the move will replicate the success of a scheme it already runs in the US.

All users of Autologic’s BMW software in the UK will now be eligible for discounted products from audio equipment firm Dension.

The scheme is aimed at boosting the number of Dension installers. Autologic says it will help independent garages to offer extra services to customers without the need to involve dealers.

Dension manufactures a range of In-Car Entertainment (ICE) systems. The kit allows MP3 players to be integrated into a car’s existing entertainment systems without making any changes to the dashboard.

The company claims audio installations that do not alter the original look of a vehicle is the fastest growing segment of the ICE market.

A starter pack for would-be installers contains Dension’s Gateway 500 interface together with accessories, namely an AVR module which facilitates output of different AV sources to different screens.

There’s also a BTA1500, the Bluetooth interface enabling compatible phones to be used hands-free. Autologic already has a coding menu embedded in its software designed to make the encoding process simple.

Additional technical support will be available from Autologic and, in cases of extreme technical difficulty, from Dension’s own support staff.

The Autologic/Dension collaboration was first introduced to the United States market in the latter half of 2009. Karen Poffley, marketing manager at Autologic, said the promotion had already proved popular abroad.

“The response in the US has been very encouraging and we are confident the promotion will be well received in the UK,” she said.

“We have support materials in place such as step-by-step installation guides, point of sale items and an FAQ sheet to provide as much assistance to users as we can from the outset.”
