Which brand names could be re-appearing in your workshops thanks to UK Batteries?
UK BATTERIES is set to re-introduce three popular battery brands to the aftermarket after acquiring the Oldham, Tungstone and Crompton names.
The origins of the brands stretch back to the 1920s and reached their most popular status during the 1970s.
Then represented by the British Battery Manufacturers Society, the three names were part of five brands that commanded around 85% of the UK battery market.
UK Batteries said it believed there was still “enthusiasm and passion” for the brand names within the aftermarket.
The brands will be available in August as part of an exclusive distribution agreement. They will run alongside UK Batteries’ existing PLATINUM and Energizer product ranges.
Neil Warren, UK Batteries’ marketing and communications director, said: “These three brands really stood for something in their day and we know they still have a commanding role to play in the modern aftermarket and our battery programme.
“The Oldham, Tungstone and Crompton names will strike a chord with lots of people in the aftermarket and I’m sure they’ll be glad that we are now driving them forward.
“Our long-term right to the brands means we will have valuable continuity and will be able to ensure the legacy of each name continues for many more years to come,” added Neil.
