Rise in independent sector diesel repairs prompts growth plans at Denso

DENSO wants to establish around 200 workshops to work on its common rail diesel systems within the next five to seven years.

The company currently has a network of 52 Denso Service Technical Centres that carry out specialist diesel repair work on behalf of other garages – and franchised dealers in particular.

The company’s aftermarket sales boss Paul Payne said that as the common rail diesel car parc grew older, more centres with specialist technical skills and knowledge would be needed to cope with demand for repair work.

“Diesels with common rail systems are increasingly coming out of the three year OES warranty period,” said Paul. “So are 52 centres enough for us to service the whole of the UK aftermarket?”.

Denso has chosen to try and keep repairs on its systems within a network of its common rail diesel own specialist repair centres only. Paul said the company preferred to use its own fitters to “avoid warranty problems”.

Before being appointed to the network, diesel workshop will receive packages of training and technical support to enable them to repair Denso diesel system within specific quality criteria.
