Motaquip claims it's milking time for profit-rich cabin filter replacement work
MOTAQUIP says garages may be missing out on profit by ignoring the regular replacement of cabin filters.
The company claims the filters are a “forgotten and misunderstood cash cow”. And according to the parts supplier, it’s milking time!
Motaquip says that in the current economic climate, opportunities for replacement are greater than ever as customers hold onto cars for longer. It claims there are health, and even fuel efficiency benefits, to replacement.
Many garages feel uncomfortable charging customers for replacement items if they do not feel they are warranted. However, the company says there are legitimate and justifiable reasons why cabin filters should be changed.
“Many people don’t even know they have a cabin air filter in their vehicle and most others are not aware of the benefits of making sure it is properly maintained,” said Peter Allen, Motaquip’s product manager.
“Over time, if the filter gets too clogged, not only is good airflow restricted but the decaying matter the filter holds can cause a hazard to the motorist compromising health and exacerbating allergies.
“Garages should educate customers on the risks of blocked and dirty cabin filters, but reassure them by letting them know they can help out by regularly replacing filters.
“Customers should also be advised of the benefits to fuel efficiency of replacing filters as air conditioning systems fed through blocked filters have to work harder, resulting in a detrimental effect on the fuel consumption of cars.
“Garages should pass on the message that no matter what the season is, it is important to have clean and efficiently working cabin filters,” said Peter.
