Parts company AC Delco says it's "business as usual" as owner GM searches for a buyer

THE ENTIRE AC Delco parts business has been put up for sale by its owner General Motors, in a bid to raise funds for the cash-strapped US automotive giant.

However, Denis Chick, GM’s director of communications in the UK, stressed that no buyer had been found and that the move did not affect the company’s UK aftermarket parts supply business.

“There’s no news at all yet from interested parties,” he said. “The process will take as long as it takes. Clearly in the current climate, selling assets like this might not be easy.

Lee Quinney, AC Delco’s sales and marketing director in the UK said it was “business as usual” at the company.

It is understood that GM is looking to raise cash by selling parts of its organisation that do not represent its core business of making cars. AC Delco boasts annual revenues of almost £1 billion and employs 600 people.

Denis said any future sale would not have a direct impact on AC Delco’s operations, particularly with activities further down the supply chain at distributor level.

“If and when a sale goes through, then in terms of AC Declo’s supply status the situation will be a status quo,” said Denis.
