Tom and Simon swing through Macclesfield as part of the Aftermarket On Tour trip for BEN
Friday 31st October . . .
Hello from footballer territory! We're driving through all kinds of posh villages where Aston Martin dealerships seem to outnumber pound shops by about 10 to 1. But before I forget, here's where we've just been.
10:49am - Paul Connelly at Macclesfield MOT & Service Centre
We pull up outside this surprisingly large garage down a very small street in Macclesfield and Paul has already spotted us approaching.
I (and my colleague back in the office Jo Lawford) get excited about visiting the home town of rock legends Joy Division. Sadly, there's not really time to go on a full Joy Division heritage trip.
The garage is tucked into an area of terraced housing alongside a motorbike dealer meaning Paul’s garage really is bang in the middle of a community area.
As an added reassurance for neighbouring houses, Paul’s garage has a large sign on the front entrance declaring: “Cheshire County Council Trading Standards – Approved Garage”.
“Things are going pretty well really,” says Paul. “I’m a bit surprised given the climate.” It just goes to show you don’t have to believe everything you read in the national papers.
Now it’s onwards towards Liverpool.
