Aftermarket On Tour heads north west to spread the BEN message to workshops
Friday 31st October . . .
9:45am – It’s another freezing cold morning and I’m playing passenger in our On Tour van trying to type something that makes sense while swerving round the roundabouts of Manchester.
Our first visit of the day is a quick stop before we head to Liverpool and finally Preston later this afternoon.
Billy Jones at Sedgley Autos in Ashton-Under-Lyme
Billy and the guys at this fast-fit workshop are clearly busy so it’s a quick check that he knows about BEN and an even quicker photo.
The easy drive-through style of these fast-fit centres is all well and good in theory but it doesn’t do much for keeping out the chills. At least Simon and I have got our van to retreat to.
My sympathies go out to all those garage guys that now look like Michelin men thanks to the bulbous layering effect that comes with wearing 15 T-shirts and jumpers. If it's any consolation, I'm employing the same tactic myself.
I should also give a quick welcome to the guys at the nearby New York Car Clean Centre. As if the appeal of getting your car washed for a few quid wasn’t enough, the guys here will do it in all-American fashion complete with a scrap-yard’s worth of shiny US chrome and a scaled-down replica of the Statue of Liberty. 10 out of 10 for eye-catching branding!
More to follow soon. Have a great day!
Tom
