Believe it or not, this is a workshop! Find out more about Aftermarket On Tour's progress
8:43am - Hello from Newport Pagnell services on the M1. It's not even 9am and we've already said hello to the guys at Fast Fit Station in Milton Keynes.
I've taken my own car there in the past for a set of new tyres so I thought we'd swing past. We grab a pic with Paul Stratton in the workshop before getting some snaps in the 1950s-style reception area. The picture shows Aftermarket's new media salesman Simon relaxing in the reception area.
I interviewed the company's owner Mark Robinson once and he said it didn't cost anywhere near as much as people thought to give your waiting room an eye-catching makeover to impress customers.
Some old-fashioned petrol pumps, 50s memorobilia off ebay and a few coats of paint and Mark has a stunning reception area that will catch the eye of even the most discerning of visitors.
The fact that there's free coffee (and pretty decent coffee at that), free broadband and free local phone calls for visitors is another thing that makes Fast Fit Station such a great place for garage-phobic drivers.
They drop their cars off outside and probably don't even realise there's a workshop out the back full of the usual grot and grease that you'd find in any workshop.
Simon has just gone to get some sunglasses to protect himself from snow blindness (yes, it's October and it's been snowing folks) and I'm getting ready for a day in Birmingham with NGK promo girl Mel.
Stay tuned to find out how it goes...
Tom
