Technical Workshop seminar keeps garages in the know with latest diagnostic info

MORE than 130 technicians and garage managers got the latest diagnostic knowledge from leading experts Dave Garratt, Frank Massey and James Dillon this week.

The three technical speakers were guests at the GEA Aftermarket Technical Workshop seminar at Brands Hatch. The event, organised by Aftermarket magazine, was designed to give workshop staff direct access to the latest information.

It also allowed delegates to put their questions and frustrations to those in the know, including concerns about access to VM technical data, ATA accreditation and the benefits of garage scheme membership.

The first speaker, Dave Garratt, explained the systems involved in FSI and GDI engines, including detailed explanations of injector function, exhaust gas recirculation and emissions systems.

Frank Massey gave a detailed explanation of the practical procedures involved in common rail diesel system repair while James Dillon helped delegates understand the complexities of CAN Bus networks.

Last but not least, OE systems specialist Nik Armistead revealed the technology currently being developed by manufacturers, including the engine systems that will be used to meet ever-stricter EU emissions legislation.

The event was made possible thanks to sponsorship support from fuel injector diagnostic company Asnu, Bosch and V-Tech UK.
