Technician Rob Lewis says Top Tech contest helped him land Delphi training job
FORMER Top Technician finalist Rob Lewis has landed a job as a trainer with Delphi – and credited his success to taking part in the nationwide hunt for the country’s best tech.
Aftermarket recently bumped into Rob at the British International Motor Show in London. He said that after winning his way through to the final stages of last year’s Top Technician contest and showing-off his skills in front of leading companies, he received several approaches about working as a trainer.
“I did Top Tech 2007 and really enjoyed it,” said Rob. “I enjoyed working in front of people at the live finals so when I got back to work, I sent my CV off to a few people.
“I worked at a Toyota dealership so I did the Toyota Technician of the Year competition and did pretty well in that too.”
Before he knew it, Rob had been offered a job with training company ProAuto and is now sub-contracted to work for them on behalf of Delphi, delivering the latest technical info and knowledge from the comfort of a classroom.
The word on the street is that Rob is not the only Top Technician contestant who has been offered a job as an expert trainer.
If you think you might like to emulate Rob’s success, then keep an eye out for the October issue of Aftermarket (published on September 24th) for details on how to enter Top Technician 2009 or, if you really can’t wait that long, simply go to www.toptechnician.co.uk.
