Delphi launches 'ATA academy' to help independents get easier access to training
DELPHI is preparing to launch an ‘ATA academy’ able to carry out assessments within a week, Aftermarket can reveal.
Delphi’s UK training manager Dan Main said the centre aimed to help workshops that struggled to find ATA centres able to offer assessment and training at convenient times.
Speaking at the British International Motor Show yesterday (Wednesday 23rd July), he said the company’s Centre of Excellence training facility in Warwick was fully aligning itself with ATA in a bid to help independent workshops fulfil their training needs.
“We’ve got a training solution that’s on-demand,” said Dan. “If people phone up, we will aim to have an ATA assessment within seven days.
“Franchised dealers usually have access to VM training centres that can put on courses at the most convenient times,” he continued. “Independents don’t have that option and often can only get assessments at inconvenient times during holidays.”
The Warwick-based company will hold open days on Friday August 15th and Monday 29th August to showcase its range of training and assessment facilities to technicians and workshop managers interested in making use of the facility.
The Centre of Excellence currently runs ATA training and assessment in service and maintenance and air conditioning.
It plans to offer ATAs in mechanical, electrical and trim repair and roadside assistance shortly. Dan said the company’s ultimate goal was to offer all ATA packages at the Warwick site.
Delphi is aligning its training with ATA standards following the scheme’s public launch at the Motor Show.
