VOSA reveals its risk assessment criteria to help garages improve results
MOT testing stations will be able to achieve even better results in their risk assessments, following a decision by VOSA to release details of its assessment procedures.
VOSA previously published a best practice guide but has never revealed how it calculates risk scores.
This information has now been added to the Transport Office website and includes a copy of the check list and a risk scoring reference guide.
The move by VOSA has been welcomed by Stephen Coles, head of MOT operations at the RMIF.
Stephen said the decision by VOSA was good news for any garages looking to stay in line with assessment procedures.
“This will aid MOT stations and organisations such as ourselves who provide external quality support to better improve VTS ratings and hence test quality,” he said.
“Without doubt this is valuable and beneficial information for test stations to have. Just imagine how much more VOSA would have helped to improve the MOT quality if it had been made available to test stations prior to the assessment process.”
