NGK returns to premises

NGK staff have returned to the Hemel Hempstead premises following the Buncefield oil depot fire eight days ago. Backlogs were cleared last Friday and the company is fully operational. Brian Childs, Deputy Managing Director - Sales and Marketing, released the following statement this morning: "NGK UK's business was directly affected by the tragic disaster at the Buncefield Oil Depot. We were in the Exclusion Zone and were not permitted to enter our premises.   A management nerve centre was organised off site from 8.30am. Monday morning. From early Monday morning we set up separate offices allowing remote access to our ordering processes and telephone reception. This enabled us to field calls from our customers and input orders ready for packing when we gained entry to our building. Not knowing if (and what) damage was caused and when we would be allowed back into our facility was difficult to manage.   Following sterling work by the local authorities and particularly the fire service the fire has all but been extinguished.   We were allowed limited access to our building yesterday afternoon and all of our staff reported for duty at 9.00 a.m. this morning.   Customers were updated regularly by emails, representative telephone calls and by our website.   Although we arranged emergency supplies direct to our customers from our European colleagues it was not necessary to use this facility.   I am pleased to inform you that we are now fully operational and all backlogs were cleared by Friday. We thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this difficult period."
