ACDelco confirms plans to establish branded workshop network

ACDelco will unveil a network of branded garage service centres during 2008.

The parts company has confirmed that it will establish a system of ACDelco garages in the second half of next year.

Boss Lee Quinney (pictured right) said members of the scheme would have access to web-based training resources to help them achieve success.

The huge range of different branded garage schemes – from the BSI Kitemark through to systems backed by component supplier or manufacturers – is a hot topic in the industry at the moment.

Many expert speakers at the recent Automotive Distribution Federation conference in Birmingham questioned the usefulness of such schemes in building public trust in the competence and professionalism of workshops.

Lee said he was confident an ACDelco branded network of garages could prove beneficial to members.

“From a customer perspective, surveys have shown that ACDelco is the fourth most recognised automotive brand in its sector in the UK,” he said.

“A similar ACDelco scheme has already been implemented successfully in Europe so the structure for doing it in the UK is already in place.

“The final thing to remember is that I don’t want ACDelco to be just another parts supplier. We want to be more than that,” added Lee.

The company is preparing a number of new products to help garages during 2008. The first of these to hit workshops via motor factors will be all-makes ranges of clutches, braking parts, water pumps and belts.
