You might be able to complete orders with companies on the other side of the world thanks to email but there’s nothing like dealing with your customers face-to-face to keep them coming back for more.
That’s why I’m itching to get to the Workshop 2008 exhibition at the NEC in April. Hopefully I’ll see some of you there.
Talking of face-to-face relationships, Shell Helix recently conducted a nationwide survey of drives to find out what keeps them coming back to workshops.

On a light-hearted note, Germany may have built up an enviable reputation for efficiency and quality but the country has a surprising secret.
Aftermarket was away in Germany recently checking out some clutch and shock absorber factories – and discovered that, in Bavaria at least, factory staff are not only allowed to smoke on the job but enjoy a break for a glass of beer. I’ve heard of keeping staff happy but perhaps there’s such a thing as enjoying work too much!
